General Information
Description of ServiceThe Nevada Prevention Resource Center (NPRC) distributes free substance abuse and related materials through the NPRC Clearinghouse and maintains the State Substance Abuse Reference Library, both located in the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Learning Resource Center.

NPRC Clearinghouse: Offers over 1,500 booklets, pamphlets, posters and other materials on substance abuse prevention, treatment, and related topics. Publications are provided free of charge to all Nevada residents and organizations. Clearinghouse materials are great for brochure racks or to give out at community events, presentations, schools, and health fairs. NPRC staff will help you find materials that best fit your audience and event.

Substance Abuse Reference Library: Over 5,000 materials including books, journals, videos, kits, and CD-ROMs available for check-out by Nevada residents, regardless of location. Library services are free and materials are available for a three week check-out period. Patrons are welcome to renew materials by phone, email, or fax as many times as needed. NPRC library materials engage a variety of audiences including children, parents, teens, and professionals. Many items come with support materials such as worksheets, discussion questions, and background information sheets.

Library materials can be obtained in the following ways:
  • Visit our library on the University of Nevada, Reno campus to browse the stacks and check-out materials in person.
  • Browse the collection's online catalog and request materials by email, phone, or fax. Materials will be sent free of charge via UPS.
  • NPRC also provided materials and technical assistance to the substance abuse reference library collection at Great Basin College Library in Elko.

NPRC has served as Nevada's RADAR (Regional Alcohol and Drug Awareness Resource) Network State Center since 2001 and has six appointed State Associate Centers. The NPRC provides coordination, orientation, technical assistance and leadership for all associate centers. NPRC is a statewide service for all Nevada counties: Carson City, Churchill, Clark, Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Esmeralda, Humboldt, Lander, Lincoln, Lyon, Mineral, Nye, Pershing, Storey, Washoe, and White Pine.
