Description of ServiceDini-Townsend Hospital offers 24/7 inpatient psychiatric care.

Psychiatric Assessment Service (PAS) through Dini-Townsend Hospital is the intake and screening point for all NNMAHS services. If the individual is acutely ill, they may be referred to the Psychiatric Observation Unit (POU), which offers rapid screening and stabilization for acute psychiatric crisis. Crisis stays are generally limited to 72 hours or less. Sixty-five percent of those who are seen in the Psychiatric Observation Unit are released back to the community, with referrals, without need of hospitalization. Hospitalization is the most intensive form of treatment provided for people in an acute episode of a mental illness. Length of stay is usually a few days to three months.
